Leaving META

With a heavy heart, a lump in my throat and a pit in my stomach, I begin the daunting task of closing down my Facebook/Meta account; spent this morning deleting my 'liked' pages and groups, and started the friend list purge.
Already deleted Instagram, and as I continue to reflect on what meaning the cathartic connection to Facebook holds, I'm brought back to the time in my life 20 years ago when in 2005 I began to take stock of my life trajectory, giving up 'the world' to join the Trappists, a contemplative community of monks, where I lived until the fall of 2007, after w
hich I returned to society to continue my quest for becoming.
Thinking of all the new waves of chapters over the past 20 years and how I've grown through efforts at personal development, completing new levels of education, transitioning to a new career, engaging with new tribes of musical artists and compadres in the hardpan and harp and wellness communities, it's not lost on me how, orienting toward these paths, the threads of constancy in my thirst for knowledge and connection have been the crux of motivational thrust in my hope of becoming more of myself.
Now as I enter the penultimate chapter, and prepare to release the habituation of human striving, and with full retirement days away, I ready myself to begin the daunting task of entering the groundless ground of uncertainty, carrying with me my existential angst of what unthought known lies ahead in the shadows.
I so deeply appreciate all of those who have taken an active and supportive part in my destiny, and trust that we have somehow enriched each other to some degree as our lives intersected temporarily in such precious impactful ways.
I guess this is the long goodbye .... not sure how much longer I'll be on this platform, but my plan is to be available through messenger where we can continue to remain present for each other, at least to some degree.
In the meantime, I leave us with this beloved Irish Blessing:
"May the road rise to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back;
The sun rise warm upon your face
The rains fall softly on your fields and
until we meet again
my the gods hold you in the palm of their hand"
Sending so much love
